What Is ADAS Calibration?

Advanced Driver Assist Systems (ADAS) are the safety technologies built into modern vehicles, including automatic emergency braking, lane keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring and more. These systems rely on cameras, radar and sensors that are precisely calibrated to work correctly. When those sensors are disturbed, the systems don't work as intended and in some cases stop working entirely.

When Is Calibration Required?

ADAS calibration is required after a windscreen replacement where a forward-facing camera is mounted to the glass, any suspension or steering work that changes the vehicle's ride height or geometry, body repairs involving the front or rear bumpers where radar sensors are located, wheel alignment or tyre changes on some vehicles, and any repair work that moves or removes a sensor or camera mounting point.

The Risk of Skipping Calibration

A miscalibrated ADAS system is not a minor inconvenience. Emergency braking that fires late, lane keeping that pulls in the wrong direction, or cruise control that misjudges distance can have serious consequences. Many insurers also require calibration to be completed as part of an approved repair. We do not return vehicles without completing required calibration steps.

Static and Dynamic Calibration

Depending on the vehicle and system, calibration is performed either statically using targets in a controlled workshop environment, or dynamically by driving the vehicle on a calibration route. We have the equipment and space to perform both types at our Osborne Park workshop.

We calibrate ADAS systems across all major vehicle manufacturers including Tesla, Toyota, Hyundai, Kia, Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz, BMW and more. Calibration is completed using manufacturer-approved procedures and equipment.
